2811 Craigie - History

We purchased this home from its original owner, a World War II veteran of the Marine Corps, who bought the house when it was built in 1946. He lived here until he died in November of 2005.

The new owner's elderly father shares the house. The home has been designed for maximum accessibility on the first floor, with a roll in shower, wider openings, and other accessibility features, which perfectly accommodate him.

Building in this historic neighborhood required HausWerks to request a variance from DeKalb County. HausWerks proposed a historically accurate infill home, appropriate to the neighborhood in both scale and proportion to the other homes, and DeKalb County granted the variance.
