917 Stratford Construction Notes

This ranch home suffered from an identity crisis, with 2 entrances and an undetermined style.

Although it boasts a lot of wonderful interior touches, they go unappreciated in the warren of small rooms and circulation spaces that make the home dark and less livable than it should be.

A major redesign of this home using the principles of Feng Shui (at the client’s request) has produced a design that gives the home a singular Japanese Modern style, without taking it out of context of its historic neighborhood.

The plan adds over 2200 square feet which is designed to take advantage of views of the large private back yard, and adds space which accommodates both a master suite and larger family and entertaining spaces.

In addition, the house creates a definitive break between public and private space that allows him to have an office and studio, while accommodating space for her community activism.
